Chapter 5

Mailing your own list

Your customer list is your best audience — people who already know you convert at rates blanket mail can't touch. The Residence plan mails your list: 100 addressed postcards a month included, each one greeting its recipient by name.

Audiences: your address book for mail

The Audiences page listing saved recipient lists
Audiences are saved, reusable lists — build one once, mail it any month, keep it growing.

Two ways to build one:

  • Upload a CSV. Export from wherever your customers live — Square, QuickBooks, Shopify, a spreadsheet — and upload it as-is. We read the columns ourselves (names, addresses, however they're labeled), so there's no template to match.
  • Add people by hand. For short lists — recent quotes, this month's leads — typing a few contacts in is often fastest.

Addresses get verified before anything prints

Every address is checked against USPS before mailing. Typos get standardized, undeliverable addresses get flagged before they waste a stamp, and anything that comes back undeliverable later shows on the campaign as Returned so you can clean your list.

Tip First names matter here: addressed cards open with “Hi Sarah,” — mail that greets people by name gets read. If your export has full names, we split them sensibly.

Choosing a list for a campaign

In the campaign's “Choose who” step, pick Mail my own list, select an audience, and send. Your plan includes 100 addressed cards a month; past that, extra pieces are $2 each and shown clearly before you confirm — never billed silently.

The rhythm that works

The businesses that win with addressed mail keep it simple: one card to the full list each month, alternating between a service reminder and an offer. Customers who haven't been back in six months are the classic gold mine — a personal-feeling postcard beats an ignored email every time.
